"Culturetracking" Lukasz Skąpski

At the Culturetracking exhibition, Lukasz Skąpski will present works realized between 2016 and 2024.In several series of photographs, a series of drawings and a video, the artist looks at "contact zones" where different cultures clash and intermingle.He refers to the texts of postcolonialism theorist Homi K. Bhabha and refers to personal experiences gained during his artistic and research stays in Kenya.

Skąpski follows Bhabha's insights and his concept of hybridity. With his usual analytical insight and sense of humor, he observes cultural couplings and fusions, as a result of which the identities of both sides of the contact become polemical and fluid.
