The Guardhouse is a baroque, two-storey structure erected in the 1720s. It has three arcades of the ground floor, and ends with a mansard roof supported by a four-column loggia. It was originally the main guardhouse for the Stargard garrison. In the 1880s it was purchased by the town and handed over to the library which had been operating there until 1939. During World War II, the building was significantly damaged and then rebuilt after the war with its original architectural form preserved .

The Museum of Archaeology and History is there now. It can be visited during its opening hours.
