The Berlin-Szczecin-Kołobrzeg bicycle route is a new tourist product being prepared by the Marshal's Office of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship together with Landkreis Uckermark.

The venture was undertaken as part of the Interreg VI A Mecklenburg-Vorpommern/Brandenburg/Poland 2021-2027 program. Western Pomerania received 2.5 million euros in European funds for the initiative. In addition, as part of the European Funds for West Pomerania, tens of millions of zlotys will be allocated for the construction of new sections of this route.

Work on a new large-scale tourism product is underway. For the next few years, activities are planned to provide a connection between Berlin, Szczecin and Kolobrzeg, so that cyclists can enjoy the regional assets along the entire route.

Polish and German partners plan to reach tourists throughout Europe with the Berlin-Szczecin-Kolobrzeg route. The cooperation envisages not only basic activities, such as the use of unified messages on both sides of the border, but also the organization of events to integrate cyclists from Poland, Germany and other European countries. Activities in this direction have already begun, by the way - in February 2024, the 1st Polish-German Bicycle Tourism Days were organized at the headquarters of the Marshal's Office in Szczecin. There will be more and more similar initiatives.

Bicycle route through Poland and Germany. Detailed schedule.

The entire complete loop will be almost 800km. Most of the mileage has been based on existing routes, so it is passable for today, although unmarked. The largest investment works are planned for the section between Stepnica, Golczewo, and Gryfice.

The planned route within Germany is sequentially Berlin-Uznam to Finowfurt; the path along the Oder-Havel canal to Hohensaaten; the Oder-Nysa section along the Oder River to Mescherin; and the Blue Velo route all the way to Szczecin. The route on the Polish side is equally varied: the one numbered 800 leads from Pargowo to Kolobrzeg (with a passage through Szczecin). The number 801, on the other hand, allows the Kolobrzeg-Zloccieniec-Siekierki route. On the Pargowo-Szczecin-Stepnica section, the route gains a common route with the Blue Velo, mentioned earlier and much loved by cyclists. New sections will also gradually appear between Stepnica and Skrzydlovo near Ryman. Another shared route - this time with the Old Railway Route - can be experienced between Kolobrzeg and Zlocieniec. The Old Railway Route then connects with the Western Lakes Route, which can be used to reach the bridge in Siekierki.

Practical information.

The Berlin-Szczecin-Kolobrzeg route was planned as a loop of almost 800km. This makes it possible to drive from Berlin to the Polish part of the Baltic Sea and return to Berlin via two different routes. The northern section is numbered 800, while the southern section is numbered 801.

The route on most of its course coincides with the course of other national and regional bicycle routes. As of today, the Berlin-Szczecin-Kołobrzeg route is not yet marked in the field, and one should follow the markings of these other routes. A schematic representation of the common routes is below.

The northern variant in the section Stepnica - Golczewo - Gryfice - Ryman in the course shown on our website and in the West Pomerania application until the planned investments are completed has been routed along existing public roads with low vehicle traffic, or forest roads with different surface quality. Only small sections in Golczewo and Gryfice are routed along roads with heavier traffic. This section, marked on the map below with a dotted line, is recommended for more experienced bicycle tourists.

Funding under the project "Bicycle route Berlin-Szczecin-Kołobrzeg" implemented by the Marshal's Office of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship together with Landkreis Uckermark within the framework of the Interreg VI A program Mecklenburg - Vorpommern / Brandenburg / Poland 2021 - 2027.
