Western Lakes trails stage XII. Section under construction Marianowo-Ińsko

Stage XII of the construction of the Western Lake District Bicycle Route. Sections in the municipalities of Marianowo, Dobrzany, Ińsko and marking in the municipality of Dobra (Szczecińska). The investment will be co-financed by European funds.

The total length of the investment sections is nearly 22.4 kilometers, while the sections to be marked are about 6 kilometers. The two investment sections are: Marianowo - Mosina and Mosina - Ińsko, while marking will be carried out in Ińsko and on the Good - State Border section.

The railroad section Marianowo - Mosina, is part of the defunct narrow-gauge railroad line between Stargard - Stara Dąbrowa - Trąbki - Kozy Pomorskie, which was entered in the register of monuments in 2002, so with this project, a number of elements will be created to remind us of the history of this line. The trackbed, on which the bike path will be built, is today partly dismantled, and partly covered with soil and overgrown.

Once the rails are dismantled, they are planned to be sectionally exposed in the designed bike path, indicating the historic course of the railroad along with its historic, meter-wide gauge. The exposure is planned for five 8-meter sections. In the area of three former railroad stops along the route, sites will be created with plaques providing information about the monument.

The project also includes the reconstruction of the bridge over the Dolzhnica River. According to the project, a new 3.5m-wide bicycle footbridge will be built here. The new span in a steel structure will be based on the existing concrete abutments. It may also be interesting to note that elements of the dismantled railroad line, will be secured and transported to a site indicated by the Stargard Commuter Railway Society. In the future, they are to be built into the Stargard - Malkocin section.

The new section of the bikeway will have a bituminous surface with a width of 2.5 meters.

Construction works, according to the signed contract, will cost more than PLN 22 million gross. The contractor is a consortium of companies: TERLAN from Poznan and STANLED from Stargard.
The contractor has 400 days to complete all works.

The investment should be ready before next year's vacations.
