Western Lake Districts Route - Szczecin Link

The lakes sprawling across Western Pomerania is the perfect destination if you are looking for a quiet holiday, as this area is much less popular among tourists. You can enjoy nature in solitude, walk around the quiet local towns and truly relax. As the name suggests, along the way you will come across numerous lakes with pristine waters and plenty of beaches. Some even call this the route of a thousand lakes. You can start your cycling trip at the so-called zero kilometre on the bridge in Siekierki which is located on the Polish-German border. The old railway bridge has been converted into a cycling route with a lookout point offering excellent views of the Oder and the unique Kostrzyneckie Backwater. The route runs mainly along asphalt cycling paths following the railway routes of the Myślibórz Lake District and the Choszczno Lake District, leading all the way to the most popular lake districts in Western Poland, i.e. the Ińsko Lake District, the Drawsko Lake District and the Szczecinek Lake District. The main route will take you through five landscape parks; its “Szczecin” branch marked as 20A runs though the Bukowa Forest. If you are looking for comfortable and well-marked sections, head to the southern part of the route from Siekierki to Ińsko. More advanced cyclists will enjoy the entire route.
